Here in Wisconsin, if you subscribe to cable, you can run as many lines as you want to as many rooms as you want. I have access in my recreation room, my bedroom, my kitchen and my living room.

You can run the output from the box you have to the other room and use a wireless remote extender. To be able to watch another channel, you need another box, and have it authorized.

In the United States, by law, you have the right to run as many lines INSIDE your home/apartment as you want (as long as it doesn’t put backward interference on the cable line)
You pay only for one connection to your home.
As a practical matter most cable system provide enough signal for six TV sets before the signal gets too weak for a good picture.
Buy a two or three way splitter and good quality RG6 coax cable and run the wire(s) as you like. They are available at every electronics store or Wal-Mart

From your username and the Virgin cable company, I assume that you are in England. I’m in the US, but my understanding is that the TV license fee is per household. So an extra TV shouldn’t require an additional license.
In the US, you’re free to hook up a splitter and run cable to other TVs. I’m not sure of the laws in the UK, but I’d say “go for it”! Sir Richard Branson has enough money.
