AV Sender with Digital Tv?
Posted on March 22nd, 2009 1 commenti-is-cool asked:
I currently have Virgin Media cable tv and have 3 different digital boxes in 3 different rooms in the house. Am trying to reduce the costs and have read about AV senders. Was wondering could i use one of these to send the digital signal from my living room to other rooms to replace the digital boxes in the other rooms? Wasn’t sure whether i’d be able to watch different channels in different rooms by this method.

You will need a Virgin box for every separate channel you will want to watch in the house. There is nothing legal that will replace the Virgin box to tune channels.
An A/V sender will send the selected channel (the analog video out) from one of the boxes to another TV in the home. The TV at the box and the TV at the receiver end of the sender will get the same channel. You might want a remote extender to run the box from the other room.
The AV sender does not send the cable from the wall to the receiver unit, neither does the receiver unit tune channels beyond the one sent by the transmitter.
A possible option (to save costs and maintain channel independence) would be to set up one or more of the TVs for Freeview.
