In this video i look at a cheap and simple way of improving freeview picture quality on a HD TV… Throw out the old set top box and buy a new upscaling freeview box! Its cheap, and greatly improves picture quality :) Freeview Set Top Box featured is a: - Goodmans GDB15HD - £30 in Argos (Shows as a Bush box at £35) …

      hi quick question…..
if i buy a standard pc monitor with an HDMI socket…wud i be able to connect it to one of those goodmans freeview box and get TV on my pc monitor??

the whole digital tv infrastructure was paid for by the british public via the tv licence money.itv, channel 4 and the rest got all their new gear for free.when you think about it,it was actually a bribe by the BBC

    12. did you get a hdmi lead with it?

    13. i got freeview for 3 pound super!!!!!! let me kno if you would like too

    14. I think i might go for freesat at some point :) One of payments FTW xD

    15. now theres freesat i think thats the jump up for freeview viewers

    16. ahh goodooo!
i was looking at some others and most come with HDD recording and stuff which is good but this is a cheap and cheerful option! :D
      thanks

    17. Yeah it has those red/white audio outputs :)

    18. hey, what audio ouputs does the box have?
is it the standard left/right out?
just that i’m thinking of using this to connect to my dell monitor via hdmi-dvi
      so i’ll need external sound

      thanks

    19. great, that means i understood what i’d been learning today correctly! cheers. :)

    20. Its just because i was using 1080i - im not 100% on how they work but interlaced (the “I”) refreshes half the image at one time giving it a jumpy effect :)
Progressive scan (the “P”) refreshes the whole image at a time so the video is much smoother
      I use 720p now very smooth :)
The picture quality is brilliant no artifacts in interlaced or progressive modes :)

    21. hi, thanks for this. i’m still trying to get my head around all this, so apologies if this is wrong… but you mention that you get “jumping” on fast moving objects. is this because of the “up scaling” technology or because you’re watching it in 1080i and are observing interlacing artefacts? i.e. do you still get the jumps if you watch it in 720p?

    22. Dead fred i forgot to add that since it can handle HD the HD channels can now arrive and we can watch them hehehehe

    23. im going to buy one next week
