i MAY have access to freesat with the satellite dish attached to my house (rented property - dish hundreds of years old and never used by me - it may not even work at all!).
but what other options do i have? i - obviously want to spend as little money as possible, and want good reception.
i must start with which tv to buy.
I’m in the UK, in a cable-less area

It doesn’t matter what TV you buy. No TV will fix bad, or non-existent, reception.

The existing satellite dish will do you no good unless you know how to adjust it to receive a signal, and have receiving equipment…which I’m guessing you don’t have.

Cheapest would be to get a large antenna installed. But before you do that, check out to see what channels are even in your area, and what sort of antenna you’ll need.

Next would be cable TV, which offers a “local stations” package for about $10/mo.

But if you’re too far out for even that, then there’s satellite TV like Dish Network or DirecTV, both of which have packages starting at about $20-30/mo.
