Freesat HD V Freeview ?
Posted on March 19th, 2009 2 commentsnylec@hotmail.co.uk asked:
How much better is Freesat HD than Freeview? Is it worth all the extra money?
I would just like to add that only a few channels on Freesat HD are actually HD, not all of them.

Freesat HD will give you all the channels which are broadcast in High Definition. This is much better than normal Freeview; the picture quality will be significantly superior, as will the sound quality. You will get all the channels that appear on Freeview, but in High Definition.
If you have a High Definition Television, then i recommend Freesat HD. There is no point in using Freeview on an HD tv, as it will look the same as on a normal, non-HD tv. The only way to make the most use of your new High-Definition television is through High-Definition programming, which Freesat HD provides.
EDIT:
Whilst not all the channels will broadcast in HD, all the channels will be upscaled to HD. Yes, channels such as Channel 4 will not be broadcast in 720p (HD), but the Freesat HD box will upscale the picture to HD. Whilst this is not as good as watching it in proper HD, the picture is still much smoother and better quality than it would be on a normal freeview box.If you have an HD tv then i honestly recommend buying Freesat HD. There is no point whatsoever in having a high definition tv if you are not going to watch high definition content on it.
